Review by Rocco A. Quaglia If you’re Hungry and looking for a Great Italian Restaurant, you must visit Maggiano’s Little Italy. The plates are overflowing with great flavor, freshness, quality and quantity at an affordable price. Grandma doesn’t have to slave over that hot stove anymore, bring her with you for that next family get together and have the Maggiano’s staff cater to your every gastronomical need. From the moment you enter through the door, till the time you leave with your shopping bags filled with delectable leftovers, you’ll be filled with that special Happy feeling that you get when you’re amongst family. You can eat ala carte or why not try the Maggiano’s Family Style Menu. Prices range from $19.95 to $37.95 for adults and from $10.95 to $20.95 for children 5 to 12 years of age. It’s an Italian-American tradition, and the large assortment of overflowing plates won’t stop coming until everyone has had their fill. For appetizers (12 to choose from) try the Calamari Fritte, the crispy fresh calamari (squid) are served with marinara sauce so you can dip or ladle the homemade sauce over these delectable delights. The Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes are even more delicious and unforgettable. Just imagine large pieces of fresh lump crabmeat coated in Japanese breadcrumbs, lightly sautéed so they’re not greasy, surrounded by tomato aioli with arugula and cherry tomatoes. Next try the Maggiano’s Salad, a blend of chilled iceberg and romaine lettuce, mixed and tossed with crumbled blue cheese, avocado, crispy prosciutto, red onions and Maggiano’s signature house dressing. Add the Spinach Salad too! Enjoy chilled tender baby leaf spinach tossed with slivers of sweet red peppers, roasted red onions, chunks of Gorgonzola cheese, pieces of applewood smoked bacon, and toasted pine nuts mixed with an apple cider vinaigrette dressing. For the main course you have 35 choices of Pastas, Meat and Seafood Entrees to choose from. You should check out the full menu at their website www.Maggianos.com before breakfast so you have plenty of time to make your choices and save room for a feast. One of the house seafood favorites and mine is Chef KB’s Lobster Carbonara. This fantastic combination of Barilla spaghetti, fresh lobster pieces, smoked bacon bits, snap peas and a rich garlic cream sauce will make your mouth water and ask for more. Another seafood favorite is the Salmon Oscar. Just imagine a large fresh Salmon filet is Asiago cheese and herb crusted, topped with fresh jumbo lump crab meat, diced asparagus and sun-dried tomatoes in a creamy garlic sauce served on a bed of orzo pasta. These juicy flakes of pink delight will just melt in your mouth. If meat is more to your liking try the Veal Marsala. This traditional Italian favorite is made with lightly floured tender veal cutlets sautéed with baby button mushrooms, onions and Marsala wine. Another entrée that you’re sure to love is the Beef Tenderloin Medallions. A plate of tender medallions of fresh cut beef covered in a portabella mushroom and balsamic cream sauce served with mashed potatoes and crispy fried onions will fill you up. For desert you must try the Crème Brulee. Rich and creamy vanilla custard with a hint of citrus, a caramelized sugar crust, and a topping of fresh strawberries makes for an unforgettable light dessert. If you like chocolate, you’re sure to love the Chocolate Zuccotto Cake. This moist chocolate cake is layered with Sambuca chocolate mousse, iced with chocolate frosting and dusted with cocoa powder. After this feast one must give a special Thank You to General Managing Partner Ahnich Khalid and his Friendly Talented Staff. Whether it’s an intimate diner for 2, a family of 8, or a larger party, call Maggiano’s today for lunch or dinner reservations.
